Two moments when McCain showed his true colors

  1. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/10/09/1523335.aspx – this is the article about the man who asked the question of McCain about the financial crisis near the beginning of the debate and McCain condescendingly said “you may not know about Fannie & Freddy”….2 notes on this:
    1. From the MSNBC article – you can see how ironic it was that McCain suggested that this guy who knows quite a bit about economics doesn’t know about Fannie & Freddy
    2. As a presenter, McCain should know to NEVER make a statement of “some of you may not know…”  - all that does is create an in and out group and sounds condescending no matter what you do – even if everyone DOESN’T know.  Instead, you present your information that you’re going to share and if it’s redundant for some – so be it.  You don’t need to pre-conditionalize the information.  You might as well say: “for those of you who are not as smart as I am – here’s this information”.
  2. McCain approached, looked directly at and, in some cases, even touched those who asked their questions – all except one person: an African American woman named Ingrid who was sporting a nose ring and beautiful big earrings.  Instead, he didn’t look at her while she asked the question, moved away after she was done and never looked at her or went near her in his response.  What was that about?!
