OMG! Jesse Jackson said something stupid – It must mean that every other black man agrees!

OY!  I just got a note from a friend of mine who forwarded another absurd press release from the RJC (the racist Jewish coalition…oops, i mean the Republican Jewish Coalition)

Jesse Jackson was quoted as saying something inflammatory and stupid (surprise surprise) – and now the right wingnuts are ascribing his sentiment to Obama – saying that it proves that Obama is against Israel.

Here’s my response to her.  It is not an official response from the campaign – just my comments.  BUT – feel free to use it as you’d like.

Jesse Jackson does not speak for Senator Obama.  Nor does Senator Obama agree with Jesse Jackson.  In fact, Jesse Jackson Jr (who’s only sharing with his dad is his name) doesn’t agree with Jesse Jackson.

Obama has a very very strong record of support for Israel – and has been highly rated by AIPAC, AJC, JAC (joint action committee) and anyone else keeping score in the Senate.  (see www.seattlejclc.org for his legislative history in support of Israel as well as letters and comments from everyone from Alan Dershowitz to Barbra Streisand to even positive words from Bibi Netanyahu.)

The question that I have for the folks putting this out is – hmmm, Andy Martin is an out anti-semite and appeared on Hannity.  Things he said were terrible with respect to Jews and Israel.  Because he’s white, does that mean that they represent McCain’s views?

OR – because Palin was in the pews when the head of Jews for Jesus said that Israel deserved what it got in terms of terrorism because Jews haven’t found Jesus – is that what Palin believes?  AND – is that what McCain believes because he selected Palin AND because that preacher was white?

The absurdity of attributing everything said by any prominent black man to Obama should be called out and recognized for what it is: Ignorance and Racism.

Anyone hearing or seeing this article should immediately try to think of the latest absurd and hateful statement out of a white person’s mouth and ascribe it instead to McCain.  Then – let’s see how far we go before completely devolving into an anarchist scrum.

Said differently – if one person who is black steps in a pile of crap, does that mean that every other black person smells?

Instead, let’s stay focused on the issues and how we move this country forward and drive toward unity and not get distracted by the politics of divisiveness.
